Chat box

As far as the rules go, it depends on who’s enforcing them. Certain mods may be more lenient than others. The big rules are: No spamming, No trolling, No flaming, No hate speech, No sexual harassment, No speaking languages other than English, No impersonation of staff, No circumventing bans, and No disrespecting the staff or the site. We also currently do not allow: posting or asking for irrelevant links (especially other anime sites or social networking sites), exchanging personal or contact information in chat, impersonating other users, inappropriate behavior towards children, repeating posts from private messages (especially when those posts are violations of the rules themselves), the use of backgrounds, using black for text or name color, typing in all-caps, posting ascii art, or the excessive use of flash smileys or youtube videos. We also prefer you keep swearing, role playing and discussing spoilers to a minimum, and have a policy that if you ask to be banned, even as a joke, you will be. Finally, please keep any discussion no more obscene than a PG-13 rated movie, as we do have children who frequent the site.

If, however, you do get banned, we have a three strike rule, first ban is 1-4 days as the mod that bans you sees fit, second ban is 5-9 days as the mod that bans you sees fit and third is 10+ days as the mod sees fit. Bans are by IP and account, as well as a unique identifier off of your computer, so please don’t assume when you change accounts you can talk again. The chat box is not connected to animeready.com so if you do get banned, you can still watch your anime. If you wish to know if you have been banned, type something into the chat box, and then refresh the page. If whatever you typed is not showing in chat, then you have been banned. If you have an issue with a ban, or believe you were banned unfairly, discuss the issue with the staff member who banned you, as other staff members WILL NOT overturn another staff member’s ban.

If you wish to hide the chat box, you can close it by logging off of any account that you’re on, then at the top right corner, directly above the scroll bar, and click the X. Some people don’t like looking at the chat, and if you’re one of these people, please feel free to close it.

If you wish to make an account, you can click the button at the bottom right where it says “Set Name” (or “Sign In” if you are currently using a temporary name). Once you have an account, you can change your name color or text color and formatting, as well as exchange private messages (PMs) and edit your profile. To change your name color, click the button marked “bg” above where you type to open the background menu, and at the top is the option to do so. To the right of the bg button are several buttons that allow you to change the formatting and color of your text. To send a PM, click on the name of the person you wish to send it to, and on their profile, below their picture, is a link to chat with them. You can also open your PM window by clicking on the avatar next to your name, and PM someone by typing their name in the “Add a friend” box on the top of the right side. If you wish to edit your profile, you can do so from the PM window by clicking the “Edit profile” button at the top of the left side, with your profile information.

If you wish to post an image, as long as it is not obscene, all you have to do is post the direct URL of the image. You can get this by right clicking an image and selecting “View image properties” and copying the URL from there in IE, or “Copy image location” in Firefox. You can also post videos from YouTube, simply by taking the page address of the video and posting it in the chat, as if you were posting a link to the video on YouTube. Before you post a video, please make sure embedding is not disabled or it won’t show up.

Video not working?

If you find a missing or broken video, please report it by looking directly under the video, and clicking report.

You will know if a video is broken if it tells you: “Video not found or access denied” for an FLV, “This video has been removed for infringement” for a Megavideo, or “This video has been cancelled” for a Veoh. Unless it gives you a message like those when you try and watch a video, or there’s no video at all (unless you live in Southeast Asia, and are trying to watch a Veoh video, as Veoh has blocked the region from viewing their videos), or it only plays part of the video, the problem is not a broken video, but a failed load. The way to fix this is to clear the cache in your browser, and reload the video page. You can find instructions for doing so by clicking this link from google answers:
How do I clear my cache and cookies?

By doing reporting missing or broken, you help the staff find these broken videos so we can fix them, making AnimeReady a better place for you. After you’ve reported a video, please be patient, and we will fix it as soon as possible.

When do new episodes of (Insert Anime Name) come out?

Most animes are released on a regular weekly schedule. However, due to the schedules of the fansub community, they can often run late. Several days, even weeks late sometimes, in the case of the series that aren’t very popular. Popular series, on the other hand, tend to get the most attention from the subbers, and can usually be expected by certain times on certain days, give or take a few hours. Below is a list of popular animes, and approximate release times in certain areas of the world:

Series name US PST (GMT -8) US EST (GMT -5) GMT Phil. Time (GMT +8)
Naruto Shippuuden 8 am Thur. 11 am Thur. 4 pm Thur. 12 am Fri.
Bleach 6 pm Tues. 9 pm Tues. 2 am Wed. 10 am Wed.
One Piece 1 am Sun. 4 am Sun. 9 am Sun. 5 pm Sun.
Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn 11 pm Fri. 2 am Sat. 7 am Sat. 3 pm Sat.
Dragonball Kai 9 pm Sun. 12 am Mon. 5 am Mon. 1 pm Mon.
Fairy Tail 3 am Mon. 6 am Mon. 11 am Mon. 7 pm Mon.

If you want to know the day of any other series, feel free to ask one of our mods to check the last page updates to see if they can give you an approximate day that you can expect it.

Why don’t we have (Insert Anime Name)?

If there is an anime series or movie that we don’t have, and you would like to see us put up, feel free to request it by asking a mod in chat or via PM, and we will put it on our request list, and get it up as soon as possible. Please don’t request western cartoons, for example: Family Guy or The Simpsons. Any western cartoons we put up will be at our discretion.

How do I become a mod?

Put simply, you don’t. When we need new staff members, we’ll recruit them from the regular users in chat who we think would suit what we need. When we’re ready to recruit mods, we’ll let the people whom we’re considering for the job know that we’re considering them, and what they need to do if they wish to become staff members. Please do not ask us to become a mod or a member of staff, as it will guarantee that you will never become one.

What is the difference between Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood?

Fullmetal Alchemist(FMA) is an incomplete series, the anime doesn’t follow the manga after the battle with Greed. This caused the series to not be very good. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood(FMAB) is the same anime, and the same story up to the battle with Greed. From there, it follows the manga as it was meant to be. FMAB is seen as better by most people, so even if you didn’t like FMA give it a try.

If you have any further questions please go to staff page and PM any online mod, we will try to get it sorted out and make AnimeReady a better place.
