Summary
Lain Iwakura appears to be an ordinary girl, with almost no experience with computers. Yet the sudden suicide of a schoolmate, Chisa Yomoda, soon leads Lain to consider unexplained things of her death. In an email from Chisa, it is explained that Chisa abandoned her flesh and decided to live in the ‘wired’ world. More events happened to Lain that seemed to link with the ‘wired’ world. These events have drawn in Lain into the idea of the ‘wired’ world, but when Lain has entered this world, she has learned things aren’t what they seem to be. Who is Lain? Can the wired influence the real world with a prophecy? Is the real world nothing but a hologram of the information in the wired?
